Ergonomics has become a hot topic in the last decade. Studies have shown that it can have a major impact on productivity of a company. If employees using workstations that are not properly designed, eye strain, headaches, muscle fatigue, and other aches and pains can become factors the effectiveness of the workforce. These problems can cause a decrease in morale and motivation.  With time could cause injury or illness. Ergonomics properly can help limit physical exertion put employees while working. with decreasing stress, increase morale and motivation, and productivity.
Offices require people to fit their work environment. Placing your computer, desktop design, style chair and space (or lack thereof) affects the ergonomics. To add to these issues, people come in different shapes and sizes, and in most cases, the workstation does not meet the individual needs of the employee. This is how injuries and diseases can result. Employees who are larger or higher than the desk and chair are designed to put more pressure on their backs and limbs to accommodate this problem. That damage could lead to days absent at work, the slowdown in productivity. Most companies that supply manufacturing workstations Ergonomic chairs have created models to adapt to the € and â € œbig world class.
According to the Swedish Work Environment (his version of OSHA) In a study published in June 2006:
The physical strain is the most common cause of accidents reported, representing 34 percent of all occupational accidents and work-related diseases reported (40% for women, 29% for men). Factors of musculoskeletal are the cause of almost six in ten reported work-related illnesses for both sexes, while stress, organization or cause other mental accounts for three out of ten reports for women and about one in six men. Physical exertion is three out of ten reports of accidents involving absence of women and one in six men.
…. the ergonomics-related injuries still represent one third of the accidents, and result in the longest absences from work – an average of 27 days for carpal tunnel syndrome. Â Â Puget Sound Business Journal April 6-12, 2001
According to the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OHSA), 1.8 million workers have musculoskeletal injuries related to ergonomic factors and 600,000 people miss some work each year because of them. Â The Seattle Times, November 12, 2000
A thing that can have an immediate impact is the position. When sitting at a desk, your back should be straight with your shoulders over your hips. Both feet should be flat on the field. This tends to be a problem because not everybody sitting in a chair where your feet reach the floor. In these situations, a foot rest is the answer.
Adding a foot to a workstation can improve comfort and posture, and improve circulation in the lower extremities. The rest of the foot may also allow a smaller person to use a standard height chair. Rocking models allow the movement of the feet, increasing circulation and reducing fatigue. a footrest literally forces your back, legs and torso in the correct posture.
An adjustable footrest is useful because we may replace up to the top chair. He must have a tread pattern to keep our feet from slipping. Attention to the height of others is essential. If it is too high, can the position of the hip and spine in a bad angle. Tall people encounter this problem. It exerts undue pressure on the spine that can run up shoulders and down the limbs. Over time, this could create serious health problems a person working in this environment.
The rest of the foot should be centered on the desktop. Feet should rest on it while the back is supported by the back of the chair. If the footrest is too high, can benefit from being pushed further under the desk. Not everyone needs a break from walking. If the chair is adjusted properly used and the person ™ € s can set foot on the floor, a foot rest is not necessary.
Ergonomics has quickly become an integral part of the workplace. Techniques Good ergonomics can help increase productivity reduce the costs of the injury. Something as simple as walking is based purchasing for all employees can save and benefits of the organization in the long run. The correct techniques of ergonomics can help to limit fatigue and improve employee morale and motivation.
